West Moreton Anglican College would like to extend to all members of the WestMAC community our sincere thanks for the many and varied contributions that have been made this year to all aspects of College life, and wish you joy and peace this Christmas and blessings for 2018.
In the lead up to Christmas, Principal Geoff McLay wrote about gift-giving in the College newsletter.
“Gift-giving has become synonymous with Christmas, a tradition which draws on the story of the three Wise Men who brought rare and precious gifts to the infant Jesus.”
“However, I am sure I am not alone in regarding the symbolic beauty of gift-giving at Christmas as having been somewhat lost in consumerism in recent times.”
Jesus is the Reason by Joanna Fuchs, succinctly communicates the true meaning of this tradition,” said Mr McLay.
Jesus Is The Reason
In Bethlehem, God gave to us
The source of Christmas joy;
A star shown on a miracle:
The virgin birth of a boy.
He was born both God and man,
A Saviour for us all,
The way to get to our heavenly home,
If we just heed His call.
So as we shop and spend and wrap
And enjoy the Christmas season,
Let's keep in mind the sacred truth:
Jesus is the reason.
“Amid the sometimes frenetic pace of preparations, may we all find time to remember the real reason for celebration – the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, who is God’s priceless gift to us,” said Mr McLay.
Please note that the College will be closed from Friday 22 December and reopen at 8am on Tuesday 2 January 2018.
