West Moreton Anglican College Welcomes Andrew Peach as New Principal

Ipswich, Queensland – 6 August 2024 –
West Moreton Anglican College (WestMAC) is delighted to announce Mr. Andrew Peach as its new Principal, following an extensive national search. Archbishop Jeremy Greaves has officially appointed Mr. Peach, who will succeed Mr. Geoff McLay, concluding a distinguished 14-year tenure at the end of 2024.

Andrew Peach, known for his exceptional leadership in education and recent high-profile role as CEO of the Former Origin Greats (FOGS), is returning to his roots in school leadership with renewed passion. His decision to transition from the world of sports administration to WestMAC is driven by his admiration for the College’s vision and commitment to shaping future leaders.

"Being a school principal is the best job in the world. Education is in my DNA, and the opportunity to come back to being a principal at a school like West Moreton Anglican College was too irresistible to miss," Mr. Peach explained. "Both of my daughters were born in Ipswich, and we spent many years here as a family, so I’m excited by the prospect of coming back to join this great community."

Mr. Peach’s educational journey is marked by transformative achievements. As Executive Principal of Marsden State High School, he led the institution through a period of tremendous growth, boosting enrolments from 1,800 to 3,700 students and earning national acclaim. His strategic vision and leadership were further refined through advanced programs at Harvard University, which complemented his Bachelor of Education and MBA.

Reflecting on how his experiences in sports will influence his approach as Principal, Mr. Peach stated, "The FOGS do amazing work supporting communities across the state. It's been another reminder of the impact of our staff on helping to build positive relationships to support engagement and learning. I think the experience working for private businesses has helped shape my thinking about how we can be organised and efficient across a school too."

"The chance to lead in a non-school setting has broadened my perspective and understanding in different environments. I'm really looking forward to joining the school community at West Moreton Anglican College and the wonderful opportunities we have to help shape the learning and development of our students from Prep to Year 12."

Mr. Peach’s connection to the Ipswich area is personal, as he and his family previously lived in Fernvale. His wife Krystin and daughters Sophie and Charlotte have deep ties to the local community, further strengthening his commitment to WestMAC.

Current Principal Mr. Geoff McLay expressed his support for the transition: "Andrew Peach is an outstanding choice to lead WestMAC. His extensive experience and innovative approach to education will undoubtedly drive the College to new heights. I am confident that he will continue to build on our achievements and lead WestMAC through its next exciting chapter."

Addressing the WestMAC community, Mr. Peach added, "The school is in a great position. We have a very dedicated and experienced staff group committed to the success of our students. Our next challenges are about building on this great work. We have significant infrastructure work and professional learning programs that we're committed to enhancing, ensuring our students are given every opportunity to succeed, now and in the future."

WestMAC is poised to further enhance its reputation as a leading educational institution in Queensland under Mr. Peach’s leadership. We eagerly anticipate his contributions and the positive impact he will have on our students and community.
