Five senior students have become the inaugural recipients of the College’s Platinum Award.

Danielle Scalia and Samuel Weber (Year 11) and Tasmin Gough, Joshua Smith, and Dylan Woods (Year 12) were recognised for their outstanding commitment to WestMAC and the extra-curricular program, on Tuesday 17 October.

The new Platinum Award is awarded to students who reach the significant goal of 200 points. Points are awarded for each extra-curricular activityand program they participate in and accumulate throughout the student’s schooling starting in Year 7. Levels of Colour Awards also include: Gold (120 points), Silver (72 points) and Bronze (48 points).

The Year 12 Leadership Team, under the guidance of College Captains, Danielle Ettles and Balin McDonald, developed the new Award.

Danielle said the team wanted to leave this legacy to encourage current and future students to strive for the top level.

“We also wanted students to be recognised for their dedication and commitment the extra-curricular activities that WestMAC offers.”

Congratulations to the Danielle, Samuel, Tasmin, Joshua and Dylan on your achievement.

Their involvement in the College is diverse and wide range including: AFL, Athletics, Band & Music Ensembles, Basketball, Cattle Show Team, Chess Club, Chinese Club, Computer Club, Cricket, Cross Country, Dance, Debating, Environmental Committee, God Gang, Musical Production, Netball, Rugby Union, Softball, Swimming, Tennis, Touch Football, Vocal Ensembles and Volleyball, to name just a few.

Congratulations and thanks must also be extended to the Year 12 Leadership Team for developing the Platinum Award.


Colour Award details:

Bronze Laurel: 48 points

  • A bronze laurel is embroidered on either side of the College crest

Silver Star: 72 points

  • A silver star is embroidered on either side of the eagle’s wings on the College crest

Gold Scroll: 120 points

  • A gold scroll is embroidered under the College crest with the year the award has been obtained

Platinum Laurel: 200 points

  • A platinum laurel is embroidered on either side of the College crest
