We are looking for a Teacher Aide - Student Wellbeing (Junior School) to join our College from Term 2, 2025.

This is a full-time (term time + 1), permanent position.

Key responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the classroom teachers to support the delivery of engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning needs.
  • Prepare resources for learning activities and for the social-emotional support of students such as administration tasks, photocopying, visual prompts, etc.
  • Classroom-based support and direction of students, present information, monitor verbal and non-verbal student responses, answer questions, supervise group and individual learning activities, assist students to find materials.
  • Provide personalised one-on-one or small group support to students who require additional assistance with academic tasks.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students experiencing challenges and facilitate the development of positive behaviour and social skills in line with restorative practices.
  • Play an active role in building a positive learning environment where students feel included, connected, safe and respected.
  • Assist Junior School Leadership Team and teaching staff in the development and implementation of support plans focused on meeting student’s safety and support needs whilst in the care, supervision or control of staff.
  • Assist with safety assessments and/or investigations, draft records of conversations/meetings, complete incident reports, assist with witness statements, write up summaries, facilitate follow-up actions and ensure accurate records are maintained appropriately.
  • Classroom supervision and support, assist students with learning activities, as directed by the teacher.
  • Bus supervision from the time of arrival of the buses in the morning and the beginning of classes, and from the cessation of classes to the departure of buses in the afternoon, as required.
  • Assist teachers and students with sporting activities and school excursions, supervise small or large groups of students outside the school, conduct tours of destinations, monitor student completion of excursion-related learning activities, constant surveillance of surroundings to ensure student safety.
  • Participate in voluntary extracurricular activities such as overnight camps, intra-school sport or after school student elective activities.
  • Address situations as they arise to maintain good order around the College.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Education Support or similar.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an empathetic, patient, tactful and diplomatic approach to working with parents, and students with a variety of learning needs.
  • Enthusiastic about supporting young people as they navigate the social and emotional challenges of schooling.
  • High emotional intelligence and resilience.
  • Extensive experience working with children with broad learning and/or special needs and those that require social-emotional support and assistance.
  • Good understanding of classroom activities, procedures, resources and school-related policies.
  • Ability to engage effectively with young people and their families.
  • Solid understanding of privacy and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility and able to work independently and collaboratively when needed.
  • Ability to meet prioritized workloads and competing demands within a complex, ever-changing environment.
  • Intermediate IT skills
  • Demonstrate a solid commitment to Anglican education and the pastoral care of students.
  • Understanding of occupational health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discriminatory practices and behavior as applied in a work environment.
  • Solid understanding and appreciation for student protection requirements and processes.
  • First Aid Certificate or be willing to obtain.
