We are looking for a Catering Assistant to join our College with an immediate start.
This is a permanent, part-time position, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 7am-3pm during Term Time only.
In this role, you may be required to work additional hours for functions and events that are held at the College.
This position will:
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Tuckshop within the guidelines and processes set by the College.
- Assist with ordering stock from approved, reliable suppliers in consultation with the Tuckshop Manager.
- Check orders on receipt of goods and ensure all stock is stored in a clean and tidy manner.
- Restock fridges as required.
- Ensure that correct food hygiene practices are maintained in accordance with associated food legislation, regulations and standards.
- Assist with the monitoring and recording requirements of the Food Safety Program. For example, recording temperatures and thermometer calibration checks.
- Prepare Flexischools orders.
- Prepare food according to the Tuckshop Manager's instructions and the Tuckshop menu.
- Serve students and staff.
- Develop and deliver high level customer service standards across all aspects of Tuckshop operations.
- Assist with stocktakes as required.
- Operate the cash registers. Responsible for balancing of the cash registers and the associated report at the end of each day.
- Ensure the cleaning schedule for the Tuckshop is followed daily. Select and use appropriate techniques and cleaning agents for the cleaning of the Tuckshop, equipment, and cooking utensils.
- Support special event days and other catered school functions as required.
- Follow Work Health and Safety procedures.
- Ensure maintenance requests and health and safety issues are raised with the Tuckshop Manager.
- Ensure at the end of each day, the Tuckshop is clean and air conditioners and lights are off, freezers and fridges are closed, and the Tuckshop is securely locked.
- Attend professional development as required.
- Document workflows and procedural instructions in relation to this position and update as required.
- Other key responsibilities appropriate to the banding of the position as determined by the Manager of the role.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Food Handling Certificate (mandatory).
- A professional, enthusiastic, efficient and customer service orientated approach.
- Demonstrated ability and commitment to work with others, both individually and as a team member.
- Possess organisational and time management skills.
- Competent in the handling of money.
- Demonstrate maturity, flexibility and initiative within the role.
- A clear commitment to the objectives and ethos of West Moreton Anglican College.
- Experience in a school environment or service provider organisation is desirable
- Basic understanding of Work Health and Safety practices
- Demonstrated responsible outlook, with an ability to relate to school aged children
- Solid understanding and appreciation for student protection requirements and processes
- First Aid Certificate or be willing to obtain.
