We are looking for a Tuckshop Manager to join our College from Term 1, 2025.
This is a permanent, full-time position (average 38 hours per week).
In this role, you will be required to work additional hours for functions and events that are held at the College. In recognition of the additional hours worked, you will not be required to work the entirety of the term breaks.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate, monitor and perform the day-to-day duties of the Tuckshop operation which includes food preparation, serving customers, receipt of deliveries and basic cleaning tasks.
- Develop a tuckshop menu that delivers tasty, affordable, and healthy food and drink choices which align with the Queensland Government ‘Smart Choices – Healthy Food and Drink Supply Strategy’ and encompasses dietary requirements (allergies, special requests).
- Monitor and maintain stock levels and order stock from approved, reliable suppliers.
- Participate in regular stocktake, recording and reporting processes.
- Identify stock requirements and place orders with appropriate vendors on a regular basis, ensuring maximum earning potential.
- Maintaining budgetary KPIs and that wastage is maintained at a minimum.
- Liaise with suppliers to maximise earning potential for the school.
- Maintain accurate and appropriate records for the tuckshop and associated catering operations including filing of ordering, receipt and associated documentation.
- Check orders on receipt of goods. Ensure that delivery dockets and invoices are check and authorised for payment before handing over to Accounts Payable Officer for processing.
- Maintain our 5-star food handling licence ensuring food storage and handling is appropriate, hygienic and in accordance with the standards outlined by health controlling authorities within relevant legislation and regulations.
- Provide effective supervision and appropriate training and assistance to tuckshop employees in the performance of their roles, including preparation, packaging, stocking, cleaning, operating point of sale and notification of rosters.
- Observe Workplace Health and Safety Practices to ensure that the tuckshop and equipment is operated and maintained in a safe and hygienic manner, and display emergency procedures in a prominent location. Carry out weekly hygiene and Work Health and Safety Checks and ensure local council policy and directions for Food Safety are implemented.
- Oversee cash handling and related security processes, operate a cash register, collect monies and balance funds and associated reports at the end of the day.
- Manage the Flexi Schools Canteen WestMAC point of sale.
- Daily cleaning/tidying of the Tuckshop area.
- Be responsible for the cleanliness of the Tuckshop, all Tuckshop equipment and ensure it is in good working order. Arrange for all repairs and general maintenance of equipment in consultation with the Operations Manager.
- Support special event days and other catered school functions as required.
- Develop menu and prices for each term in consultation with the Enrolments and Services Manager.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Skills and experience in food preparation, handling cash flow, stock and asset management and advanced knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels to encourage positive interaction across the college community and achieve desired outcomes.
- Sound computing skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- A professional, enthusiastic, efficient and customer service orientated approach.
- Sound understanding of budgets and cost controls
- Exceptional organisational and managerial skills.
- Demonstrated ability and commitment to work as an effective member of a team, by providing support, training, and guidance to team members.
- Demonstrated ability to work self-directed and highly motivated within guidelines and respond to issues as they arise.
- Competent in the handling of money.
- Knowledge of, or ability to gain knowledge of, departmental administrative and financial policies, practices and procedures, and Workplace Health and Safety legislation and requirements used in a commercial style canteen/tuckshop within a school environment.
- Possess a flexible attitude and openness to new ideas.
- A clear commitment to the objectives and ethos of West Moreton Anglican College.
- Experience in a school environment or service provider organisation is desirable.
- Experience in a supervisory position in a successful retail and/or food service business.
- Experience in a high-volume bulk cookery experience is highly regarded but is not essential.

- Solid understanding and appreciation for student protection requirements and processes.
- First Aid Certificate or be willing to obtain.
